The Maze Collection

Dorian Bouhuys' Maze Collection is his twist on interactive modern art. Inspired by immersive art and motivated by the desire to contribute something new and unique to the art world Dorian has endeavored to challenge conventional art. He encourages interaction with his sculptures to activate the full effects of his art. Enjoy the art while stimulating cognitive development and exercising neural networks. As the "observer" twists, turns, and tilts the maze to find the finish line they are connecting with art in that moment. That moment transitions to satisfaction when the puzzle is solved. Play until completion to stimulate reward response, or just look at it, there's no wrong way to appreciate these sculptures.

To be fully immersed in these sculptures one must navigate a marble that is trapped inside the glass tubing from one end of the piece to the other. The difficulty level and uniqueness of each maze is determined in 3 ways; the length of glass path the marble travels through (the marble run), the amount of marble traps that redirect your path, and number of marbles being navigated at once. Competitive observers welcomed.

To ensure the sculptures durability and longevity, Dorian works entirely with Borosilicate Glass. Borosilicate or “Boro” is an extremely durable form of glass that is known for it's industrial applications in scientific laboratory equipment and kitchen goods.

Every Marble Maze is handmade by Dorian himself; therefore they are limited. No two mazes are alike or ever will be alike ensuring each maze is unique in its own special way.
Conservation and waist mitigation is important to Dorian so, when possible, he makes mazesconstructed entirely of upcycled glass. Upcycled glass is the unusable
scrap of much larger projects that are too small to use and normally
thrown away. Upcycled marble mazes are extremely limited
because they require months of scrap collection and demand
more time to assemble the scrap into reusable parts.
